Maintenance and preservation of the Astoria Column depend largely on the generosity of donors and volunteers who share the vision for protecting this important landmark for generations to come.
There are many ways you can help:
- Donate: Friends of Astoria Column is the nonprofit organization responsible for ensuring that the Column is maintained and preserved. Fundraising and community outreach are key elements of the board’s work.
- Join the Clean-Up Committee: Be part of this large group of committed individuals who give their time to keep the Astoria Column park site clean. Clean-Up Committee volunteers pick up trash, clean the granite pavers surrounding the Column base, and sweep the Column stairs. The committee meets at 9am the first Saturday of each month at the Column site.
- Become a Volunteer Docent: Every year, hundreds of thousands of visitors make the trip up Coxcomb Hill to see the Astoria Column and take in the incomparable views available from its vantage point. Volunteer docents greet visitors and share the Column story with them.
